————————-
Footage of Sobroso Castle, captured with a DJI Mini 3 Pro drone on 10/13/2024. Sobroso Castle, located in Villasobroso, municipality of Mondariz (Pontevedra), is a medieval fortress of Romanesque style dating back to the 10th century. Built on the foundations of an ancient pre-Roman castro atop Monte Landín, the castle enjoys a strategic position that allowed it to control a wide panorama of the region. Its structure consists of an outer wall 140 meters long, a residential body, and an imposing rectangular Keep.

Throughout its history, Sobroso Castle has witnessed important events and has been linked to notable historical figures. In 1117, Queen Urraca I of León was besieged in this castle by supporters of her son and sister but managed to escape through a secret passageway. Later, the castle was practically destroyed during the Irmandiño Wars in 1467 and rebuilt by Pedro Madruga in the 15th century. It was also in the hands of the Sarmiento family and was the subject of disputes among Galician nobles.

After a long period of abandonment, the castle was acquired in 1923 by Alejo Carrera Muñoz, a resident of Villasobroso, who dedicated his fortune to restoring it. In 1981, the Puenteareas City Council bought the castle from Carrera Muñoz’s heirs to complete its restoration and establish a historical and ethnographic museum. Therefore, and curiously, although Sobroso Castle is located in the municipality of Mondariz, it currently belongs to the Puenteareas City Council and houses the Center for Recovery and Dissemination of Popular Culture of this municipality.
————————-

Música:

Discovery by Scott Buckley | https://soundcloud.com/scottbuckley
Music promoted by https://www.free-stock-music.com
Creative Commons / Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0)
https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/

"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false
[10
359,537,551,1107

post-5736","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-espana-a-vista-de-dron","tag-castillo-de-sobroso","tag-dji-mini-3-pro","tag-dron","tag-mondariz
["GET
