No s\u00f3lo pude captar el centro de la ciudad, donde destacan el Palacio Ducal y la Iglesia de El Salvador, sino que las monta\u00f1as nevadas le daban un toque muy especial a la Sierra de B\u00e9jar. Continu\u00e9 la grabaci\u00f3n con la parte este de la ciudad, donde destacan las murallas medievales, as\u00ed como el tajo del r\u00edo Cuerpo de Hombre, donde a\u00fan se alzan las ruinas de las f\u00e1bricas textiles de B\u00e9jar, anta\u00f1o el coraz\u00f3n industrial de la ciudad.<\/p>\n<p>B\u00e9jar, situada en la provincia de Salamanca, en Castilla y Le\u00f3n, y reconocida como el principal n\u00facleo urbano del sureste salmantino y capital de la Sierra de B\u00e9jar, est\u00e1 declarada Conjunto Hist\u00f3rico. Destaca por su casco antiguo, donde sobresalen el majestuoso Palacio Ducal -antiguo castillo reconvertido en palacio renacentista en el siglo XVI-, las murallas medievales con la emblem\u00e1tica Puerta del Pico, y notables iglesias como la de El Salvador, de origen g\u00f3tico y ampliada en el siglo XVI, y la de Santiago, ambas testigos del rico pasado religioso y art\u00edstico de la ciudad.<\/p>\n<p>El pasado industrial de B\u00e9jar est\u00e1 marcado por su hist\u00f3rica dedicaci\u00f3n a la fabricaci\u00f3n de pa\u00f1os de lana, que la convirti\u00f3 en un caso singular dentro de Castilla. Aunque la tradici\u00f3n textil se remonta a la Edad Media, fue en el siglo XIX, tras el declive del poder ducal, cuando la ciudad vivi\u00f3 su mayor auge industrial gracias a la iniciativa de artesanos influenciados por la Revoluci\u00f3n Industrial. Este impulso situ\u00f3 a B\u00e9jar como un referente textil nacional, aunque la posterior crisis y la competencia industrial provocaron su declive a lo largo del siglo XX, dejando un legado de f\u00e1bricas y una potente burgues\u00eda industrial.<\/p>\n<p>Una de las tradiciones m\u00e1s singulares de B\u00e9jar es la leyenda del Hombre Musgo, que se remonta al siglo XII. Seg\u00fan la leyenda, durante la Reconquista, los cristianos bejaranos, camuflados con musgo, lograron reconquistar la ciudad de manos musulmanas. Esta historia se revive cada a\u00f1o en la festividad del Corpus Christi, cuando los Hombres de Musgo desfilan por las calles, perpetuando una tradici\u00f3n \u00fanica que refuerza la identidad y el atractivo tur\u00edstico de B\u00e9jar.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<br \/>\nOn 17 April 2025, Maundy Thursday, we visited the beautiful city of B\u00e9jar, in the south of Salamanca, where I had the opportunity to fly my drone. Not only was I able to capture the city centre, where the Ducal Palace and the Church of El Salvador stand out, but the snow-capped mountains lent a very special touch to the Sierra de B\u00e9jar. I continued filming in the eastern part of the city, notable for its medieval walls, as well as the gorge of the Cuerpo de Hombre river, where the ruins of B\u00e9jar\u2019s textile factories still rise-once the industrial heart of the city.<\/p>\n<p>B\u00e9jar, located in the province of Salamanca, in Castile and Le\u00f3n, and recognised as the main urban centre of south-eastern Salamanca and the capital of the Sierra de B\u00e9jar, has been declared a Historic Site. Its old quarter stands out, with the majestic Ducal Palace-an old castle converted into a Renaissance palace in the 16th century-, the medieval walls with the iconic Puerta del Pico, and notable churches such as El Salvador, of Gothic origin and extended in the 16th century, and Santiago, both bearing witness to the city\u2019s rich religious and artistic past.<\/p>\n<p>B\u00e9jar\u2019s industrial past is marked by its historic dedication to the manufacture of woollen cloth, which made it unique within Castile. Although the textile tradition dates back to the Middle Ages, it was in the 19th century, after the decline of ducal power, that the city experienced its greatest industrial boom thanks to the initiative of craftsmen influenced by the Industrial Revolution. This momentum established B\u00e9jar as a national textile reference, although the subsequent crisis and industrial competition led to its decline throughout the 20th century, leaving a legacy of factories and a powerful industrial bourgeoisie.<\/p>\n<p>One of B\u00e9jar\u2019s most unique traditions is the legend of the Hombre Musgo, which dates back to the 12th century. According to legend, during the Reconquista, the Christians of B\u00e9jar, camouflaged in moss, managed to recapture the city from Muslim hands.
