Hoy en d\u00eda no suele ser necesario, ya que para empezar ya casi no existen los disquetes, y las memorias USB de gran tama\u00f1o y el uso de redes locales est\u00e1 m\u00e1s que extendido.<\/p>\n<p>Sin embargo, sigue siendo necesario en ocasiones dividir ficheros grandes (y ahora enti\u00e9ndase \u00abgrandes\u00bb como varios gigas) para transportarlos de manera m\u00e1s c\u00f3moda. O bien para transferirlos a trav\u00e9s de redes con frecuentes desconexiones.
